<title>'Britain must compensate Aboriginal people for radioactive fallout'</title>
		<link>http://antarsa.auspics.org.au/index.php?option=com_content&amp;task=view&amp;id=213&amp;Itemid=2</link>
<description> ANTaR SA and ALRM have re-issued this statement on 24 August 2009 (docs/mediaRelease_24Aug2009.pdf) (pdf 88kb) (docs/mediaRelease_24Aug2009.pdf), with some amendments to the statement initially circulated on 6 August. ANTaR SA and ALRM re-issued the statement as the core issue remains - the radioactive fallout from the 1950s British atomic tests went to many places in Australia, and all Aboriginal people ought to have access to pursuing compensation for damages from this fallout. We want to see equitable access to legal processes for affected Aboriginal people following the decision, in early June, of the British High Court to allow military veterans from Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and the UK to sue the British Ministry of Defence for compensation for damages related to radiation exposure from tests carried out in Australia. Aboriginal people should be appropriately and adequately supported by Australian governments to investigate and follow up this issue. Please see the Statement (pdf 88kb) (docs/mediaRelease_24Aug2009.pdf) and signatories to it (index.php?option=com_content task=view id=212 Itemid=2). If you have already let us know of your support for the Statement circulated earlier, please let us know whether you are happy (or not) to continue to support this amended version. </description>
